Beloved brethren, what can we say about the transgression of Judas who delivered (betrayed) his Master. It was said that one of the twelve, who is Judas Iscariot went to the chief priests and said to them; how much do you want to pay and I will deliver Him to you? They bargained with him to pay thirty pieces of silver. What a great foolishness; rather, what a great infatuation with silver, which is the source of all evil. Because when he (Judas Iscariot) coveted it, he sold his righteous Teacher and Lord and landed himself in the depths of death. How awful is the love of money. It invited every evil and is worse than Satan’s manipulations. If it (the love of money) possesses someone, it renders him captivated by it. They can no longer fathom themselves and ignore others. They will reject nature’s laws and become anxious at heart. See how many blessings the love of silver took away from Judas because Christ was talking to them openly about the comforts of the kingdom of heavens and the horrors of hell. Every one of them knew how terrible it would be, the sufferings of sinners; He, Christ also honored all those who strived for their soul’s salvation.
