The statue was destroyed by lightning 5 October 1753. It was rebuilt the following year by Cornacchini.

The original was part of a group of 16 statues erected between July and December 1668.

Height - 3.1 m. (10ft 4in) travertine
She is shown wrapped in a large cloak. Her left hand supports the palm of martyrdom, while her right holds a flag, now fragmentary.
