So-called “Horus Albani”: legs from a statue of Rameses II (Ramesses II) completed and restored as a statue of the god Antinous. Lower part: Egyptian alabaster, ca. 1250 BC, brought to Rome in the Imperial Era; upper part: Italian alabaster, 18th century. The lower part of the statue (the seat covered with hieroglyphs, legs and forearms) is antique. This is the remnant of a large statue of Pharaoh Ramses II. The upper part has been entirely recreated, perhaps by Bartolomeo Cavaceppi's studio.
