A mural painting in Saint Anthony Monastery: a mural painting in the dome of the four living church, which is a small church inside the ancient church, in Saint Anthony Monastery, Red Sea, dating back to the 13th century A.D. It shows Christ the Lord sitting on His throne in glory, carrying the book of life, and His right hand is in a blessing poise. Under His feet, there is a semi sphere representing earth, with the following Coptic words inside: “Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool” (IS 66:1). The four living creatures were depicted in the following manner:

1) Two on the right side: one has an eagle face, and the other has a lamb face. John the Baptist lies next to them, with the following Coptic words written underneath: “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”

2) Two on the left side: one with a human face, and the other with a lion face. Virgin Mary lies next to them, with the following Coptic words written underneath: “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior” (LK 1: 46).

The icon was also written on it in Coptic: “The Four Living Creatures”. They were depicted with their hands lifted as a sign of interceding on behalf of all humans. Each one of them as 6 wings and is full of eyes. Under the icon, it is written in Coptic: “Holy, Holy, Holy, O Lord God; Heaven and earth are full of Your holy glory.”

رسم جداري من دير الأنباً أنطونيوس: رسم جداري في قبة كنيسة الأربعة أحياء، وهى كنيسة صغيرة من داخل الكنيسة الأثرية، بدير الأنباً أنطونيوس بالبحر الأحمر، ويرجع تاريخهاً إلى القرن الثالث عشر الميلادي.

وتبين رسم السيد المسيح وهو جالس على العرش في مجده، حاملاً كتاب الحياة، ويده اليمنى تشير بالبركة. وتحت قدمي السيد المسيح رسم نصف دائرة ترمز للأرض، ومكتوب بداخلهاً باللغة القبطية "السموات كرسيك والأرض موطئ قدميك" (أش 66: 1). وقد رسم الأربعة أحياء اثنين من جهة اليمين واحد له وجه نسر والآخر له وجه كبش، وبجوارهم يوحناً المعمدان، ومكتوب تحته باللغة القبطية "هوذا حمل الله الذي يرفع خطاياً العالم" (يو 1: 29). واثنين من جهة اليسار، واحد له وجه إنسان والآخر له وجه أسد، وبجوارهم السيدة العذراء ومكتوب تحتهاً باللغة القبطية "تعظم نفسي الرب وتبتهج روحي بالله مخلصي" (لو 1: 46).

وكتب على الأيقونة باللغة القبطية أيضاً "الأربعة مخلوقات غير المتجسدة"، ورسمواً وهم يرفعون أيديهم علامة على شفاعتهم عن الخليقة كلها، وكل واحد منهم له ستة أجنحة، ومملوءين عيوناً.

وكتب في أسفل الرسم باللغة القبطية "قدوس قدوس قدوس أيهاً الرب إلهنا. السماء والأرض مملوءتان من مجدك الأقدس".
