262- The Ethiopian monks of Saint Taklahimanot's Monastery

 الرهبان الأحباش في دير القديس تكلاهيمانوت

It is worth mentioning that in many of the icons of Saint Taklehaimanot that I’ve seen in many Holy places all around Ethiopia, beside Him there is the icon of the Egyptian Saint Abba Gebre Menfus Kedus..  I don’t know why till now..

من الجدير بالذكر أنه في كثير من أيقونات القديس تكلا هيمانوت التي رأيتها في العديد من الأماكن المقدسة في كل الحبشة، تجد بجواره صورة القديس المصري أبا جيبرا مينفوس قدوس..  لم أعلم ما السبب حتى الآن..

After that I sat with some of the monks of the Monastery of Saint Taklehaimanot in Etissa, I got the laptop out, and showed them the website of our Church, and how we visited Debre Libanos in the celebration of the Feast of moving the Holy Relics of Abona Takla Himanot, our visit to Debre Damo and the cave the Saint lived in for 12 years (Asra holtet aman), and they were so happy when I narrated to them with poor Amharic, the story of His descending by the rope (Gamad) from the mountain (Debre), then it was cut, and God gave Him six wings (Sidis kenf) to carry Him safely to the grounds..  Of course they knew the story, but they were happy to know that it was known in Egypt, and for the funny way of pronouncing Amharic words..  And that there were Churches and Holy Altars by the name of Saint Taklehaimanot in Egypt..

بعد هذا جلست مع بعض الآباء رهبان دير القديس تكلا هيمانوت في إتيسا، وأخرجت الكمبيوتر المحمول وأريتهم موقع الكنيسة على الإنترنت، وكيف قمنا بزيارة دير ديبرا ليبانوس في الاحتفالية بعيد نقل جسد الأنبا تكلاهيمانوت، وزيارتنا لدير ديبرا دامو والمغارة التي عاش فيه القديس هناك لمدة 12 سنة (آسرا هوليت آمان)، وفرحوا عندما قصصت عليهم بأمهرية بسيطة قصة نزوله بالحبل (جمد) من على الجبل (ديبرا)، وانقطاع الحبل، وأعطاه الله ستة أجنحة (سيديس كينف) لتحمله سالِماً إلى الأرض..  بالطبع كانوا يعرفون القصة، ولكنهم فرحوا بعملهم أن قصته معروفة في مصر، وبالأسلوب الكوميدي للغة الأمهرية الركيكية المُلقاة بها..  وأن للقديس تكلا هيمانوت كنائس ومذابح في مصر..

I asked for their blessings, and they insisted that I spend over the night there till the second day, as it is not easy going now (and I should have accepted!!!!!!)..  But I preferred to go, to finish some of the things we need to do in Habesha, and get back to Egypt God willing..

ثم طلبت بركتهم، وأصروّا على أن أقوم بالمبيت حتى اليوم التالي، لأنه ليس سهلاً الذهاب الآن (وكان ينبغي أن أقبل!!!!!!)..  ولكنني آثرت الذهاب، حتى ننهي الأمور المتبقية لنا في الحبشة ونعود إلى مصر بإذن الله..
