166- The new Monastery of Abune Taklahimanot

 دير أبونا تكلا هيمانوت الحديث

On the way to the Monastery behind the land of the University, there was a dumping place behind the walls of the University for the University’s restaurant trash..  There were at it lots of vultures, eagles and crows; eating the leftovers of food, meat, skin of the cattle & sheep bones being thrown from the restaurant..

في الطريق إلى الدير، وبعد تركنا أرض الجامعة، كان هناك مكان وراء سور الجامعة للنفاية الخاصة بمطعم الجامعة..  ورأيت فيه عشرات من النسور و الصقور و الغربان؛ الطيور الجارحة تترمم على فضلات الطعام واللحم والجلد من على عظام الأبقار والخرفان التي يتم إلقاءها من المطعم..

We arrived at the Monastery after 50 minutes, the guard insisted on accompanying me to the Monastery itself after leaving the campus..  “This is my obligation as an Ethiopian towards you as an Egyptian” as he said..  When we arrived, I saw a small church of build from wood, mud and hay..  At the thresholds of the land of the Monastery I saw lots of rocks, being moved by the youth of the village around the Monastery from a spot near the University, and drag it on some carriers, walking all the unpaved road to the land of the Monastery..  In preparation to build the big church..

وصلت إلى الدير بعد 50 دقيقة، وقد أصر الحارس على أن يصحبني إلى الدير نفسه بعد خروجنا من أرض الجامعة..  "فهذا هو واجبي كحبشي نحوك كمصري" كما قال..  وعندما وصلنا رأيت كنيسة صغيرة من الخشب والقش والطين..  وعلى أعتاب أرض الدير يوجد حجارة كثيرة، ينقلها شباب القرية المحيطة إلى الدير من مكان قريب من الجامعة بوضعها على حاملات بعجل يجرونها سيراً حتى أرض الدير في الأرض الغير ممهدة..  وذلك تمهيداً لبناء الكنيسة الكبيرة..
