On the road to the Cross
Walked our dear Lord
Carrying our sin and our shame
The big cross was heavy,
and a crown full of thorns
Was put on His head and His brow
His cross was to shame
And to humiliate
But the evil and pain, that was all mine to bare
And the sins on His back, He carried for my sake.. On the road to the Cross..
On the road to the Cross
Walked our beloved
Up the hill and towards
Golgotha
The sun shielded her light
Only darkness in sight
And the friends ran away
Trembling
And the pain of betrayal
Was far worse than the nails
That pierced His hands, and His feet and side
And the sins on His back, He carried for my sake.. On the road to the Cross
On the road to the cross
Unto the judgment day
I will not ever be put to shame
My cross I’ll carry
And my crown I will wear
On my head with joy and honor
For this cross will be, unto me, a blessing
For I’m ready to die for the world
And for you...
And the sins on His back, He carried for my sake.. On the road to the Cross
