About St-Takla.org

"Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain", "The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance is of the LORD"
"If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen".
(Psalms 127: 1; Proverbs 21: 31; 1 Peter 4: 11)

The idea for this site came to one of  St. TaklaHimanot church's servants (Ibrahimia, Alexandria, Egypt) many years ago (about 1997), but it started to get its official look in the beginning of 2001, after showing what was made over the years to the current priests of the church.. who have been open-minded, and provided some information needed for the site..  And finally the site was inaugurated on August 20, 2002.

Thank God, I've been using the Internet heavily these past few years (before the inauguration of the website).. and that gave me time to think more and to make this site as (collective) as it could get.. so that everybody finds what they want through it..  So from this site you could go to any other Coptic sites on the net, listen to hymns, masses and carols.. the ability to get thousands of pictures on our Lord Jesus Christ, Virgin Mary, Saints.. etc... you could also read the whole text of the Holy Bible in many languages, there is also a kids' corner, Time Center, Arabic-English Dictionary and a multi-lingual translator, Arabic Keyboard, and a valuable part about Egypt, through the ages till now.. and a part about Alexandria.. Coptic fonts, Christian computer icons, Christian programs, Spiritual Songs Lyrics, a part for Christian mobile tones, and even the ability to learn languages online like Arabic, English, French, Italian and Coptic languages, and a general software downloads section, Coptic Church history, Coptic rites and rituals, Katamaros and Daily Readings, Christian Quizzes and Sunday School lessons, Bible study: Intros, Explanation, Maps, and a very special Bible Search, in addition to thousands of articles, replying to the frequently asked questions (FAQs) of the Christian and Muslim visitors, Christian books corner... etc.

"Neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase" (1 Corinthians 3: 7).

This website is useless without the contributions of thousands of people, personally or through their messages, questions, and criticism..  It is not just a single or individual effort, but it is a product of the thoughts of many people, the contributions of hundreds, and the suggestions of thousands..  We are just like a vessel that is put outside in the early morning to collect the dew that falls freely from heaven..  We are not the source, we are merely and instrument.

Protocol of St-Takla.org:

The aim of Saint Tekle Haymanot Website, not just to serve a Church in Alex, Egypt, or the Coptic Churches around the world..  But as soon as the site was published on the Internet, it became 'international'; not as in 'popular', but as it can be accessed through anyone at anytime around the day..  And that is the level that we are looking for..  We are not looking to being a great website!  By we want to be perfect!!  That's what God ordered us to be (Mathew 5: 48), and we know that perfection is a God's virtue only, but we walk on the path towards perfection.. We know that we won't reach it, but it is our path to trod..  So we think of the site as under construction till its ending..

As the site is international, we get all kinds of demographic visitors, not subject to age, sex, religion or language..  That's why we translated parts of the site to English (the current international language).  But as we are in an Arab country, we gave a special attention to answer the questions of other religions, without being dragged by the war of words that goes between some sites of both religions..  But because our Holy Book orders us to "always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you" (1 Peter 3:15).  We answer inquiries, or the ideas that can be misunderstood by some, using our religion and dogma from the Christian perspective, not something else.

And as the site is international, and not merely Coptic, we explained the Church Dogma, Rites and History, not only for Copts, but for all those who care about the Orthodox Coptic Culture, regardless of religion or race..  Also we saw into other general issues, like teaching languages, other general electronic services, free software.. etc.  In order to serve all..

Another idea for the website, is respecting the document, or respecting the Church's memory..  Whether on the local church in cities and governorates, or as a Coptic Church in general..  There are lots of ideas, activities, achievements, and news that leak and escape the Church's history -whether local or general- due to ignorance, negligence and carelessness of archiving events and achievements.. etc.  As we find local and superficial care from some of the services, as each one just cars about servicing his spot and his served people, and leaves the huge heritage that he developed and searched for it with others (ideas, lessons, activities, awards, news.. etc.)  All that dies with the death of that person, or by the ending of his services..  Or gets locked up in his home or church's drawers, until it gets thrown away after the person perishes or there is no need for these files and documents..  So one of our targets is documenting, archiving and chronicling the accomplishments of the Church, and reviving what could be forgotten..

Please pray for the users, service and servants..  "Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably" (Hebrews 13:18).
