وملك عاي علقه على الخشبة إلى وقت المساء . وعند غروب الشمس أمر يشوع فأنزلوا جثته عن الخشبة وطرحوها عند مدخل باب المدينة ، وأقاموا عليها رجمة حجارة عظيمة إلى هذا اليوم
