Bear Share is a Win32 peer-to-peer file-sharing application created by Free Peers, Inc. built on Gnutella technology. BearShare was built with the development goal of improving on Gnutella. It is an open source Gnutella workalike that adheres strictly to the Gnutella protocol and is the first client to address the learning curve encountered by new users. BearShare provides a Connection Setup Wizard for configuring the client and logging on to the network and offers automatic connection maintenance using the Clip2 DSS Gnutella Service Provider. The Search function handles any file type, highlights keywords and supports simultaneous Active and Passive searching modes. BearShare is also compatible with the indexing features of both Reflector and LimeWire. |
