After that I met one of the monks, the guard was translating for both of us, and I learned that the Monastery was established on 2003 (1993 Ethiopian Calendar), it currently has six monks, three of them are priests, along with the Abbott.. They took me in a tour in the agricultural lands of the Monastery, by the banks of the Abbay River.. Then they showed me the memorial marble that has the date of establishing the new church which is being built, on May 28, 2000 E. C., which is 2008.
بعد هذا تقابلت مع أحد الآباء الرهبان، وكان الحارس يترجم بيننا، وعلمت أن الدير تم وضع حجر الأساس له عام 2003 (1995 بالتقويم الحبشي)، وبه حالياً 6 رهبان، منهم ثلاث كهنة، بالإضافة إلى رئيس الدير.. وقاموا بصحبتي إلى أراضي الدير الزراعية، على ضفتي نهر أبّاي.. ثم أروني الرخام التذكاري بوضع حجر الأساس للكنيسة الحديثة التي يتم بناءها، وقد وضع يوم 28 مايو سنة 2000 ت. ح. (بالتقويم الحبشي) أي عام 2008.

I did show them at the start the permission I had, and now I wanted to get inside the small church, one of the watchmen at the Monastery wanted to see the permission, I told them that I am not in need of a permission to visit the House of God!! This is not an ancient Church.. Seems it is a rule to lock all the Ethiopian Churches at all times other than the times of prayers.. I told them that I am not used to that, as in Egypt, or at least at Saint Taklehaimanot’s Church in Alexandria, the Church is open all day long from the dawn at the time of the daily Holy Liturgy, till midnight! There are guards, but the Church is open for everyone..
كنت قد أريتهم التصريح في البداية، والآن أردت دخول الكنيسة الصغيرة، فطلب الخفير بالدير أن يرى التصريح، فقلت لهم أنا لا أحتاج إلى تصريح لزيارة بيت الله!! هذه ليست كنيسة أثرية.. ويبدو أنها قاعدة بإغلاق الكنيسة في غير مواعيد الصلوات في كل الكنائس الحبشية.. فأخبرتهم أنني غير معتاد على هذا، حيث أنه في مصر، أو على الأقل في كنيسة القديس تكلا هيمانوت بالإسكندرية، الكنيسة مفتوحة من الفجر في صلاة القداس اليومي، وحتى منتصف الليل! يوجد حراس، ولكن الكنيسة مفتوحة للجميع..

Then I left some amount of money as a donation from St-Takla.org for the establishment of the Monastery, as we left yesterday also for Saint Taklehaimanot’s Monastery in one of the islands of Lake Tana in Bahir Dar, as a contribution from the website for the construction of Saint Taklehaimanot’s Monasteries..
ثم تركت مبلغاً من المال تبرعاً من موقع القديس تكلا هيمانوت لبناء الدير، كما تركنا بالأمس أيضاً لدير القديس تكلا هيمانوت الموجود في إحدى جزر بحيرة تانا في بحردار، مساهمة من الموقع لتعمير أديرة القديس تكلا هيمانوت..
