8) To the Airport to receive The Pope

 إلى المطار لاستقبال البابا

Then I got back to the Ethiopian Patriarchate, to find many Metropolitans, Bishops, monks, and priests, along with some laymen..  Gathered with the Coptic delegation and Coptic congregation of Addis Ababa..  All gathered to go to the Airport..  Then I got into the car with the Coptic congregation and the Coptic Metropolitans & Bishops, and Metropolitan Bishoy came back from the African conference. 

عدت بعد هذا إلى البطريركية، لأجد عشرات من الآباء المطارنة والأساقفة والرهبان والكهنة الأحباش، مع العلمانيين، والوفد القبطي، وأعضاء الجالية القبطية في أديس أبابا..  الكل على استعداد للذهاب إلى المطار..  وركبت العربة مع أعضاء الجالية القبطية هنا والآباء الأساقفة الموجودين، وقد انضم إلينا الأنبا بيشوي عائداً من المؤتمر الأفريقي.

And after reaching the Airport heading to the VIP waiting hall, nobody was allowed in!!  As the number was huge, and seems they were not knowledgeable of the visit or something like this!  Abune Paulos the Ethiopian Patriarch was already in before it with a few minutes.  Bishop Bishoy quietly noted his objection about this, saying: “This is our Pope, how come we are not allowed to receive Him”?!  And He took a side..  After a few minutes, we were allowed in, starting with Anba Beshoy the Metropolitan..  But I was the only one to be stopped, as I didn’t have an entrance permit!!!  So I told them that I came to Ethiopia especially to photograph the visit of Pope Shenouda III to Ethiopia for the website of St. Tekle Haymanot, and I showed them my passport with the Visa, but they insisted on letting me wait outside.  Then Mr. Loutfy, the Egyptian residing in Ethiopia since 1962, asked them calmly to let me in, as I am from the Egyptian Coptic delegation. 

 وعند دخولنا المطار إلى قاعة انتظار كبار الزوار، لم يتم السامح لأي شخص من الإثيوبيين أو المصريين بالدخول!!  حيث كان العدد ضخم جداً، ويبدو أنهم لم يكونوا على علم بالزيارة في المطار أو ما شابه!  وكان البطريرك قد دخل القاعة بالفعل قبلها ببضعة دقائق.  فقام الأنبا بيشوي بتسجيل إعتراضه بهدوء، قائلاً أن هذا بطريركنا، فكيف لا يتم السماح لنا باستقباله؟!  وانسحب جانباً..  وبعد بضعة دقائق، تم السماح للجميع بالدخول، بداية بالأنبا بيشوي المطران..  ولكن تم إيقافي أنا فقط، حيث لم يكن لديّ تصريح دخول!!!  فأخبرتهم أنني جئت خصيصاً إلى إثيوبيا لتصوير زيارة قداسة البابا لموقع أنبا تكلا هيمانوت، وأريتهم جواز السفر بالفيزا، ولكنهم أصروا على أن أنتظر بالخارج.  ثم جاء إليهم أ. لطفي، أقدم مصري في أديس أبابا، طالباً السماح لي بالدخول، حيث أنني من ضمن الوفد القبطي المصري.
